HOW YOU CAN HELP US
|
Despite provisions in South Africa’s Constitution that give every child a right to education suited to its needs, government gives The Key School (and others like it) no financial support. We therefore charge parents fees in line with their ability to pay, and for the rest rely on donations. Full fees are high because of the high staff to pupil ratio called for in order to care satisfactorily for children with autism.
The Key School has since its inception relied on the generosity of donors to close the financial gap between what parents of our children can afford to pay by way of fees, and what it costs us to operate the School. If you would like to play a part in helping The Society for Children and Adults with Autism and Key School cope with the growing challenge of autism and related disorders in the Johannesburg area, please consider one or other of the following options: |
SPONSOR A CHILD AT KEY SCHOOL
We shall introduce to you a child in need of financial support to enable him or her to join the school until age 12. The cost (at 2007 prices) would be R30 000 per annum. If your organisation felt able to commit to maintaining a child at the School until age 12, we would designate your contribution as a Bursary named for your organisation. You would receive regular reports on the child’s progress, and of course you would be a welcome visitor to the school at any time. |
HELP COVER THE KEY SCHOOL’S CURRENT OPERATING EXPENSES
A contribution of any size, large or small, will be most welcome at any time, and will help us make progress towards our strategic aims. |
MAKE A DONATION TO THE KEY SCHOOL FOUNDATION
The Society has established a Charitable Trust to finance the projects sponsored by the Society in order to achieve the objectives set out in its Constitution, including in particular:
- To ensure the long term financial security and management of the Key School for Autistic Children.
- To provide bursaries for children with autism in need of Key School care but for whom no specific sponsor has been found.
- To fund the provision of weekend respite care.
- To establish a boarding facility for The Key School.
- To establish lifetime sheltered communities for people with autism who are past school age.
- To establish a Resource Centre of specialist therapists.
